When We Are Married By JB Priestly (November 2011)
The Saints Players, formerly St Dunstan’s & St John’s Players, are proud to present their production of When We Are Married directed by Audrey Piddington.
Set in the fictional northern town of Clecklewyke at the turn of the century, three local (and very self-important) couples are celebrating their wedding anniversaries – or so they think! Twenty-five years ago all six were married in the same chapel on the same day and their lives have been intertwined ever since. They consider themselves pillars of the local community and the height of respectability until they find out that their marriages were not legal. Their first reaction is one of Victorian horror – what will their friends think? how will they live down the shame? But this then leads to a comic re-evaluation of their marriages.
All turns out well in the end but only after a healthy dose of Priestley’s caustic wit and uncanny insight into the pomposity of the middle classes during the industrial revolution.
The Saints Players production will be staged at our usual venue, The Adrian Mann Theatre at NESCOT, Reigate Road, Ewell from Thursday 17th to Saturday 19th November. Thursday and Friday performances commence at 8.00 p.m. with a matinee on Saturday at 2.30 p.m.
Tickets are on sale at £9.00 each for adults and £6.00 for children under 14. A family ticket covering two adults and two children is also available at £24.00. We also offer (via the Box Office) a Group Discount of £1.00 per ticket for 10+ tickets booked at the same time for the same night.

Separate Tables
By Terrance Rattigan
Performed by Worcester Park Dramatic Society
Having won the coveted NODA Regional Flame Award for their April production of Norman Holland’s historical drama 'The Militants', Worcester Park Dramatic Society has a hard act to follow. However in a complete change of mood, and in the centenary year of the birth of one of this country's greatest playwrights, they are staging Terence Rattigan's 'Separate Tables' this November.
'Separate Tables' consists of two 1-Act plays, both set in the Hotel Beauregard, Bournemouth, at an interval of eighteen months in the 1950's. This is arguably Rattigan's finest work showing his great skill in the portrayal of the fragility and frailty of human relationships set against the starchy and unforgiving backdrop of the permanent elderly residents of a seaside hotel.

Performances are being held at 6.30 p.m. on Thursday 24th and Friday 25th November with a matinee performance at 2.30 p.m. on Saturday 26th November. Tickets £10.00 each available from the Box Office by telephoning 01737 760163 or email h_p_jones@o2.co.uk

Change of Production for November 2011 - When We Are Married
Sadly a licence to perform "Stepping Out" was not granted. This is because there is likely to be a professional production performed around the same time. So instead, director Audrey Piddington has decided that, instead, we are to perform
"When We Are Married", the famous comedy by J B Priestley.
Set in Edwardian times, the plot concerns three “well to do” Yorkshire couples who are about to each celebrate their silver wedding anniversary only to discover that they were never legally married. Tickets will be on sale later in the year.
For further information telephone John Kemp on 020 8393 1768.

"The Saints Players" - Name Change on the way
Members and friends will know that the St Dunstan’s Players based in Cheam and the St John’s Players in Belmont merged a few years ago to become The St Dunstan’s & St John’s Players. It's quite a mouthful and whilst we don’t want to loose our past identities we are planning to rename this amateur drama group - "The Saints Players".
This was discussed and agreed unanimously at our AGM in February and the name change should take effect over the coming months.

Thursday 15th and Friday 16th April at 8.00 p.m.
Saturday 17th April at 2.30 p.m.
At the Adrian Mann Theatre, NESCOT, Reigate Road, Ewell
This hilarious play is set on the Spanish island of Formentera in the 1970’s at the ‘Pension Maria’, a small hotel overlooking the sea. The Tinsley family from England, comprising father, mother, son and grandma, arrive for their summer holiday to find the hotel staff speaking mostly Spanish, an annoying German guest, plus the usual problems of foreign loos, dodgy water and local cuisine. Add to this the appearance of unexpected guests, a storm, leaky ceilings, a shortage of beds and problems with grandma’s false teeth, and the scene is set for a truly farcical comedy.
Tickets £9.00 each
